You see them on balconies, stairs and around patios or decks. They’ll keep people from falling off and hurting themselves or they’ll help some of us climb up and down the stairs. 1. DIY exterior deck railings
2. Exterior rails by Catheryne
Catheryne is part of tinktube’s community of DIYers. She decided to build her own exterior railings and this picture shows the first finished panel during her building process.
As you can probably tell, the rest of the railings will look just like the first one, giving a very sleek and industrial look to her patio set up!
If you take on a similar project, the main difficulty will be to create holes in the wood for the tubes to fit inside the posts, and the same thing applies to the horizontal wood panels. Once the horizontal parts are embossed into the vertical ones, you’ll have a very sturdy structure that’s going to stand up to any test!
3. DIY exterior porch railing
4. DIY rails for stairs
This one is one of the simplest and low-cost exterior handrail ideas presented in this post.
You could replicate the same kind of project with tinktube, using 90° Elbow black connector (HJ-90 fitting) to create the angles of the handrails and structural anchors to fix the rails to the building’s structure.
Then, to ensure the rails are sturdy enough when drilling into brick, drill a pilot hole first using a small masonry bit. Then, use a larger bit and drill again to make a bigger hole.
5. Exterior stair railings
